Yes, You Can Bring the Dog to Pettifers

Dogs are genuinely welcome here, not just tolerated, and it’s one of the things we’re proudest of about Pettifers. If you’ve been putting off a Cotswolds break because you didn’t want to leave the beloved dog behind, here’s what you need to know before you book.

What it costs and what to bring

We charge £10 per dog per night, whatever the size, and there’s no limit on how many you bring, within reason. Your dog’s welcome to share your room with you, but we do ask that they stay off the furniture and bedding, so it’s worth packing their own bed or blanket along with their bowls. They’ll need to be on a lead around the hotel and in the grounds, and if the weather’s been rough, we just ask that they’re clean and dry before coming back inside (we have a cleaning area at back of Hotel). We can’t have dogs left alone in bedrooms or anywhere else on the property, so it’s one to plan around if you’re heading out without them at any point.

Where they can join you

Pettifers Hotel

Beyond your room, dogs are pretty much welcome in all areas (no paws in the kitchen!) –  of our Stoneroom where they can join you at breakfast; the lounge, bar and snug for a well deserved pint, so you’re not stuck upstairs all evening. If your dog does have an accident or causes any damage, we’ll ask you to cover the cost of putting it right, which is really just common sense rather than anything unusual. There a “Poo bins” in both car parks and the Walled Garden where they are welcome to play.

Choosing the right room

Not every room at Pettifers takes dogs, so it’s worth knowing which ones do before you book. Our classic family room and large family room both welcome dogs, and so does Mayfield Cottage, our two-bedroom cottage with its own enclosed courtyard and off-road parking. The cottage is worth a look if you’d like a bit more independence, somewhere the dog can settle in the open-plan living space while you get on with cooking or watching TV, rather than everything happening in one hotel room. Whichever you choose, it’s worth mentioning your dog when you book so we can make sure you’re in one of the right rooms for it.

Making the most of a dog-friendly stay

Crudwell’s proper walking country, and we’ve already put together guides to some of our favourite dog-friendly walks near Pettifers, from riverside strolls to longer countryside loops, so there’s no shortage of ways to tire the dog out during the day. Westonbirt Arboretum, about five miles from us, also has areas where dogs can go off the lead if you fancy a change of scenery and similar distance is the great expanse of the Cotswold Lakes where swimming is also an option, with free maps available from Reception.

If you’re ready to book, take a look at our dog-friendly rooms or our Mayfield Cottage page, and let us know your dog’s coming along when you get in touch.
